@MEC: They love mangoes !! And of course a lot of other things too:)

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

You could net them. I have had to net our pond here due to ducks coming, who would turn it into a mud hole given half a chance.
On the mango front, I got my first wrinkly honey one this morning. I will be buying a box of the tomorrow :)

10 May 2019 9:18am

@grouser: Impossible grouser.. The tree is a massive one! And anyway, we do get a few !!

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

£$%& that should be 'them'

10 May 2019 9:19am

@grouser: :))))))))))))))))))))) Hope you had a whale of a time eating them !!!! Aw!! Do ducks come into your pond crossing your walls and gate ?

Sam from Chennai, India

A fine shot of this mango. Amazing details. The teeth markings of the squirrel are clearly seen on this mango. Excellent. Well done Devi. :)

10 May 2019 10:41am

@Sam: Thank you very much Sam :) It is a pleasure to watch them eat these...spitting the green down on the cemented car park!

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

I love seeing the teeth marks where a creature has enjoyed the fruit.

10 May 2019 11:59am

@Ruthiebear: Me too !!! I love to watch the little creature hanging on to the mango and nibbling it..and with great elan. spitting the peels on to the car park below !!

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

They fly in, as did a heron until we put a trip wire round the pond to stop it stepping in

10 May 2019 4:53pm

@grouser: What a trying situation !!!!

grouser from Ludlow, United Kingdom

Nice little cages round selected fruit then :)

Willem from Noord-Scharwoude, Netherlands

A good choice of squirrels.

10 May 2019 6:14pm

@Willem: Yes..they do not go for the manoes that are grown in the tree in the backyard as they are a bit sour and not sweet like this !

Harry from Apex, NC, United States

Are you saying you weren't intentionally growing squirrel food? It seemed so open and inviting ...

10 May 2019 11:34pm

@Harry: Ha ha ha !! Till last yea we had little boys throwing stones at the mangoes from the branch that was hanging outside the wall facing the road. But last year's storm broke that big branch and so no branch there right now!

Irene from San Francisco, United States

To bad.
Good shot, though.

11 May 2019 12:05am

@Irene: Thank you Irene :))

Elaine Hancock from Olney, United States

That is so frustrating. I know the feeling. That happens to me all the time with tomatoes and apples on my apple tree. I keep watching them and then they disappear and I find a half eaten tomato or apple somewhere else in my yard. I need to send Scout after them!

11 May 2019 12:40am

@Elaine Hancock: I can understand Elaine ! Hope you have a new roof- squirrel proof one - above the shed ! It is sad to see tomatoes being eaten up. Years ago, we had a radish patch ( 45 years ago) in a big house in a village where we stayed and the neighbor's rabbits used to dig up the soil and nibble the radishes and my mother in law used to run behind them with a big stick shouting expletives !!

Mhelene from Villiers-sur-Marne, France
