@Ralf Kesper: It is..we add a little sugar too to the dish ( sugar in its raw form known as Jaggery or brown sugar ) which mitigates the bitter taste..and the dish is made tastier adding fried sugar gratings.
I do not have diabetes but I eat it. ;))))
