Wedding time

Posted by
Devi (Chennai, India) on 10 November 2018 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

Coconuts, bananas, mango leaves...auspicious for a wedding here. The Yellow thread that you see on the coconut is called the sacred thread which has lockets made of gold strung through it..according to each family's custom. No young girl ( 90% of them ) wears them these days..some of them even refer to this as Dog's Lisence Ha ha ha..
But I have one I have been wearing for the past 52 years..changing the thread every two months :)))))))))) Tradition seems to stick to me....and I respect many of our traditions :) to m3e this is as sacred as the Wedding ring...

A great dining table. I like fruits and nuts. They are healthy delicacies.

Beautiful photo giving details of the tradition and interesting narrative of old faith and the new attitude. Excellent presentation, I like Devi. :)

@Sam: Thank you Sam :))) Thaali endra vaarthayin artham maaRippochchu..But so long as the wedding and love last it is fine.I have come to that conclusion :) I remember a person arguing with me a few years back saying " Nothing has been mentioned about Thaali in the vedas. It is man-made. " He was stunned when I quoted the manthra from Lalitha Sahasranaamam.." ">>>>>kaamesa badhdha maangalya soothra shobhitha kandhara.." which Hayagreevar recites to the Vaakdevathas..anyway, it all depends on one's perspective these days. I believe and that is it !
