Moon and Jupiter ?

Posted by
Devi (Chennai, India) on 22 January 2018 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I said so. I thought so. But I was still a bit in doubt as to whether it was Jupiter or Venus !!
Michael can see this and tell me whether it is Jupiter!

Michael Skorulski from Toronto, Canada

A really fine image, Devi. If you took this image in January facing east just before dawn, it is likely Jupiter. All of the bright planets, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are all in the eastern pre-dawn sky this month. Venus is in the evening sky this month but unfortunately is blotted out by the glare of the sun.

22 Jan 2018 7:43am

@Michael Skorulski: Thank you Michael :))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) It was not this January but taken a few months ago when there was a news item in the papers that Jupiter will be spotted in all it's brightness in the late evening / night sky...But of course, the Canada time and India timings differ and are opposite too ! Thank you once again Michael :)) My grand son made an exotic statement " It is the "dust thingy " in the lens." Ha ha ha !!! And I had decided not to post it ! But your image gave me the enthusiasm to post this !
