Nice shot Devi. What is R O water? Why don't they use Dalda? What do they use instead? I am too curious aren't i?

30 Aug 2016 9:51am

@: Helen :: :))) R O is Reverse Osmosis...process used to filter and purify the river water to make it potable:)) like the bottled Mineral water.. Thank you Helen :)) Yes we stopped using Dalda years back as it is not too good for the heart. We from the South of India use Sesame oil and coconut oil and ghee for certain recipes. For deep frying we use groundnut(peanut) oil, and coconut il. May use sunflower oil ( extracted from the seeds). Not not curious at all!! I too love to read about international cooking/ oils used etc. I use ghee or coconut oil for deep frying and sesame oil or coconut oil for my dishes.

Happy ST! What is Dalda? What is R O water?

30 Aug 2016 5:41pm

@Ruthiebear: Dalda is Hydrogenated vegetable oil which is considered as bad for the heart. R O is Reversible Osmosis..the process used for purifying and filtering water :)
