This is called a Homa Kundam. Bricks are arranged to form a wall and sand filled inside. Select herbs and seeds will be placed in a fire lit inside this.The smoke from the fire detoxifies the atmosphere and clears pollution .There are patterns drawn on the bricks with rice flour

a lovely simplicity. i remember the drawings done on the thresholds of houses in Southern India. They have a wonderful fluidity that reflects the dexterity of their creators. Well documented again.
