Inside a Temple....These are used in Temple festivals to place Bronze replicas of the main Deities and take them out of the Temples for processions. You can see fresco on the wall behind..scenes from history related to the Temple.

Devi, thats so colorful and cute - I was just thinking of taking a drive with Shiva - our neighbor would lent us one of his bulls - only we would not know where we end up - they are pretty wild bulls !!!!!!
Have a great evening Monika

11 Jun 2013 7:41pm

@Shiva: Wild bulls sound terrifying Monika...Even if they aren't Shiva might start barking so much, the bulls might tear down the country side in terrific speed ! We have bullock cart races here during some festivals. They are called RaekLa !!!

Sam from Chennai, India

Devi, A beautiful bullock cart in a temple complex. Great shot.
What a lovely scene here ... Very colourful - Green, yellow , orange ... Love it.
I enjoyed your responses to Sarito and his reply. Thank you Devi, for this lovely presentation. I went back to my child hood days. We had a wonderful bullock cart with all luxury finish and the finest bulls to take us around. It was a great experience. The bulls were more like our pets who know us well and we took great care of them.
Thank you again, Devi. :)

12 Jun 2013 1:01am

@Sam: Sam :))) It is sheer delight to interact with you who who can relate to the post!!! I can picture your " luxury finish " bullock cart with satin jamakkaaLams over the hay cushions and the lining on the sides!! I remember my Grandpa's KaaLai vandi( in kerala they are called kaaLavandi whereas in Tamizh they call it maattu vandi, I think!!).Yes you are right..the bulls could even recognise the individuals!!! May be you have some photographs in your archives ? It would be fantastic to see them !!! I suddenly recall the song " MaNappara maadu katti Mayavaram aeru pootti...."

Sarito from Basingstoke, United Kingdom

It is cool isn't it.. born in a village near Trichy and Ariyalur.. not sure whether you heard of the place.
