Yet another decorative motif..... part of the ceiling.This is incomplete as you can see from the sketch-mark on the stone.
Hard to imagine how they'd get that on a ceiling!!

@Mooie: This will be a separate slab, Mooie, which will be placed on the ceiling and all the other slabs which form the ceiling, around it, so that this juts out like a sculpture in relief :-)))
Very nice capture of detail, it is interesting to see how work the sculptor, his sketches on stone, a beautiful photo. I like a lot, great shot.
Have a good day.

@outsidersworld: Yes outsidersworld, I will...
Can you guess/do you know how many man days/weeks/months it takes to make just this?
9 Jan 2013 9:57pm
@CElliottUK: It is a family of sculptors, Chris. There are students of the main architect / sculptor too, who work on this. Each one takes up one portion and work on that ; since this particular temple is a complete granite one , the work takes three or four years..In many temples the structure is of bricks and limestone and cement and only the sculptures are carved, But here the whole thing is a sculpted one.
It is a year since I visited this temple...in between I had to stop as my husband underwent an open-heart surgery...but we have started our hectic tours again as the Surgeon who performed the surgery turned out to be a God/ magician who has brought back the daily routine into my husband's life. Planning to go there soon and see the finished Temple :-)
It's quite beautiful and will look good on the ceiling.
