Finally I caught Them

Posted by
Devi (Chennai, India) on 21 December 2012 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

The crows had built their nest in the fig tree in my garden and I had been waiting to see the eggs exposed !! I made several trips to the terrace and finally when the eggs were exposed and I tried to capture them, the father crow went "swoosh" over my head trying to attack me !! What a dumb father !! As if I could harm his kids from this height !! I covered my head with the laundry bucket exposing only my arms and took a few shots, with the father constantly tapping the bucket !! Phew !! As I removed the bucket, I could see heads popping at my neighborhood windows..They might have been whispering "Poor woman !! Lost her mental balance I suppose !! Walking around with a bucket on her head !!" Ah !! What a tough life it is !!

Jypyä Pop from Turku, Finland

The nest is truly a magnificent place. It is easy to observe. Congratulations.

@Jypyä Pop: Thank you Jypya.. I lost all my previous comments by a silly mistake, trying to change tomorrow's image and ended up changing this to my horror !!!

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Nice capture, but I think the shot of the day would have been the one taken of you with the bucket !

I was able to retrieve my comments and your response from my AM3 :
Wow. Amazing capture. An interesting account of a great adventure so well executed, Devi. Admire your courage and this wonderful presentation, Devi. Excellent. :)

Devi: Thank you Sam :-)))) You made my day !!! It was tough, what with the crow flying over my head and tapping the bucket...and finally when I uploaded the photo I was maha thrilled !!

Devi, I have some more things to add ... Love the way you have presented your experience here and in your response to Learning Soul ... I thoroughly enjoyed ... Your sense of humour and the story are amazing ... All the best, Devi. :)

Devi: Sam !!!! Wonderful seeing you here again... :-))) Humour is a part of me, Karna's kavacham and kundalam !! As I said to Learning soul, there's more to this crow's beautiful eggs.. Shall post another photo soon on this secret but that shot is a pathetic one...getting blurred while zooming. But the story behind it is amazing.. Thank you for your appreciation :-)))))))))))))))))))))))Thank you once again for your compliment...I am grateful ....
